Best Time to Visit Squamish

A season-by-season guide to Squamish, BC — when to climb, bike, ride the gondola, and see the winter bald eagles.

Squamish is a year-round destination

There’s no bad time to visit — it just depends on what you want to do.

🌸 Spring (March–May)

Waterfalls are at full roar, trails begin to dry out, and crowds are thin. Great for early-season hiking, climbing and the gondola.

☀️ Summer (June–August)

Peak season. Everything is open: climbing, mountain biking, kiteboarding, paddling and the gondola. Book accommodation and tours ahead — this is the busiest time.

🍂 Fall (September–October)

Arguably the best season for many. Cooler, crisp air makes for prime climbing and biking, fall colours appear, and the summer crowds thin out.

❄️ Winter (November–February)

Bald-eagle season — thousands gather along the rivers, peaking in January. The gondola runs for snowy alpine walks, and snowshoeing is popular nearby.

Quick rule of thumb: summer for the full menu of activities, fall for the best weather-to-crowd ratio, winter for the eagles.
